A Brief History: A Garden Born to Shine

The Mont des Arts Garden was conceived in 1910 by renowned landscape architect Jules Vacherot for the Universal Exhibition. Its original purpose was to beautify the city and conceal the dilapidated Cour Mountain.

The garden is structured around a grand fountain with nine steles and is connected by monumental staircases adorned with bas-reliefs created by Oscar Jespers, Charles Leplae, and Rik Poot. Today, it serves as a green and soothing link between Brussels’ main cultural venues.
